You have the right to withdraw your consent to the use of your personal data at any time by contacting the Topmed Data Protection Team. Your withdrawal of consent will come into effect within 30 days from the receipt of the withdrawal request, but will not affect the lawfulness of any personal data processing that occurred prior to such withdrawal coming into effect or any subsequent processing related to Topmed’s business operations.

We store technical information in our log files and use cookies across www.topmed.org and its related websites to improve performance and enhance the experience.

Your personal data processed by Topmed will be kept confidential and will only be accessed on a need-to-know basis or where required by law, regulation or court orders by our employees involved in the provision of the products and services concerned, and third parties such as service providers involved in the provision of our products and services, regulatory and governmental authorities and our professional advisors.
7. Retention of Personal Information
Your personal data processed by Topmed are usually retained by Topmed for 5 years from the end of our business relationship or completion of the relevant task if we have no business relationship with you. At the expiry of such periods, your personal data will be deleted or securely archived to comply with legal retention obligations or in accordance with applicable statutory limitation periods.

To the extent permitted by law, we may record and monitor your communications with us to ensure compliance with our legal and regulatory obligations and our internal policies. This may include the recording of telephone conversations.

According to applicable law, regulations and/or industry guidelines, you may be entitled to invoke a data subject’s right in relation to your personal data being processed by Topmed. These rights that you can invoke as a data subject may include:
Right of Access
You have the right to obtain from us confirmation as to whether or not personal data concerning you is being processed, and, where that is the case, ask us for copies of your personal information. For any further copies requested, please note that we may charge a reasonable fee based on administrative costs.
Right to Rectification
You have the right to obtain from Topmed without undue delay the rectification of inaccurate personal data concerning you.
Right to Request Erasure
In compliance with the applicable mandatory retention periods, you have the right to request from Topmed the erasure of personal data concerning you where (a) processing is no longer required for the purposes for which the personal Data was collected (including offering you our services or products) or (b) you withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data and there is no other lawful basis for the processing.
Right to Restriction of Processing
You have the right to restrict or stop your personal data from being processed in certain cases such as:
- You contest the accuracy of your personal data or the processing is unlawful;
- Topmed no longer needs your personal data for the purposes of the processing, but you require them for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims;
- You object to processing pending the verification whether Topmed’s legitimate grounds override yours.
Right to Transfer Data
You have the right to request the transfer of your personal data to another service provider, upon your request and where the processing is based on your consent.
Right to Object to the Processing
Any future withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of personal data processing prior to such withdrawal or any subsequent processing related to Topmed’s business operations. Such right can be exercised at any time where your personal data is processed for direct marketing purposes. 10. Security
The security and confidentiality of your personal data is important to us and Topmed has invested significant resources to protect the safekeeping and confidentiality of your personal data. When using external service providers acting as processors, we require that they adhere to the same standards as Topmed. Regardless of where your personal information is transferred or stored, we take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that personal data is kept secure.
11. Social Media
Topmed operates channels, pages, and accounts on some social media sites to inform, assist and engage with customers. Topmed monitors and records comments and posts made on these channels about Topmed in order to improve its products and services.
Please note that you must not communicate to Topmed through such social media sites the following types of information:
- Confidential personal data
Including any information regarding your financial situation, bank account details, transactions;
- Sensitive personal data
Including special categories of personal data meaning any information revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, or trade union membership, and the processing of genetic data, biometric data for the purpose of uniquely identifying a natural person, data concerning health or data concerning a natural person’s sex life or sexual orientation and other sensitive personal data such as criminal convictions and offences and national identification number;
- Excessive, inappropriate, offensive, or insulting information
Towards individuals, Topmed is not responsible for any information posted on those sites other than the information posted by its employees on its behalf. Topmed is only responsible for its own use of the personal data received through such sites.
